Ghanaian forward Ernest Nuamah, who currently plays for Olympique Lyonnais, has been excluded from the final 20-man shortlist for the highly anticipated 2023 Golden Boy Award.
This prestigious award recognizes the top young talents in world football.
The 19-year-old winger had initially gained recognition on a global scale following his remarkable performance in the Danish Superliga while playing for FC Nordsjaelland.
His inclusion in the top 100 best young players in the world highlighted his immense potential and talent.
Joining him on the initial list was fellow Ghanaian talent Christopher Bonsu Baah, who has since moved to KRC Genk.
However, neither of the two promising Ghanaian players made it to the final 20-man shortlist for the Golden Boy Award.
The clear frontrunner for the award appears to be Jude Bellingham, a star player for Real Madrid and the England national team.
Bellingham has made a significant impact in the early stages of his career while playing in Spain.
The final list of 20 players includes notable talents such as Arda Guler from Real Madrid, Lamine Yamal from Barcelona, and Jamal Musiala representing Bayern Munich.
Notably, only two African players managed to secure a spot on the Golden Boy Award shortlist. Ousmane Diamonde from Ivory Coast and Bilal El Khannouss from Morocco are the representatives from the African continent.
Despite missing out on the Golden Boy Award shortlist, Ernest Nuamah continued to make strides in his career.
He recently scored his debut goal in the French Ligue 1 during a match in which Olympique Lyonnais drew 3-3 against FC Lorient.
Currently, Nuamah is with the Black Stars, as they prepare for international friendly matches against Mexico and the United States.
