During an interview with TV3 monitored by this reporter, regarding December in GH and security concerns, Mr Agyemang stated that the Ghana Tourism Authority is collaborating with the Ghana Police Service to ensure stringent security measures for Christmas events.
“We have a proven track record of successfully managing this for the past five years in Ghana. We’re actively coordinating with event organizers, and after meeting with the Inspector General of Police [George Akuffo Dampare], he requested that everyone submit their security plans, aligning with the police strategies,” he explained.
Mr Agyemang highlighted the deployment of security personnel to every region of Ghana.
“Approaching the festive season, it becomes imperative for the Ghana Tourism Authority and the police to implement effective measures to safeguard lives during various events.
“For instance, in the Ashanti region, event organizers must provide details such as designated points, the required manpower for the day, and their tailored security plans. We’ve engaged in discussions with National Security and hoteliers, recognizing the influx of people who will be staying in hotels and facilities, necessitating additional security measures,” he emphasised.
