African Taekwondo Union President Ide Holds Meetings in Ghana

African Taekwondo Union (ATU) President Issaka Ide travelled to Ghana to hold meetings with colleagues in the country.

Ide was welcomed by Ghana Taekwondo Federation President Frederick Otu, as well as the organisation’s secretary general Adnan Lamptey and technical director Stephen Amegashie.

High on the agenda was the taekwondo competition at next year’s African Games, which Ghana is due to host in its capital Accra.

Mustapha Ussif, Ghana’s Sports Minister, chaired the discussions.

“The importance of the meeting lied in the desire to strengthen the effective coordination of all taekwondo related activities within the framework of the 13th African Games,” the ATU said.

“The AFT delegation took part in crucial discussions at the preparatory meeting to ensure the success of this emblematic sporting event.”

Ghana was due to host the African Games this year but its extreme debt and a dispute over marketing rights pushed the multi-sport event into 2024.

Dates of March 8 to 23 have been set.

Ide is a member of the World Taekwondo Council and is also the President of the Niger Olympic Committee.
