African Paralympic Games: 70 Moroccan Athletes to Compete in Ghana



Morocco is set to participate in the inaugural African Paralympic Games, scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana, from September 3 to 12. 

The Moroccan delegation, comprising 70 athletes, will compete across three disciplines: wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, and amputee football, the Royal Moroccan Para Sports Federation announced.. The Moroccan athletes are not only aiming for victory but also hoping to secure their spots in the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, as these competitions serve as qualifiers for the prestigious event.

In wheelchair basketball, Morocco is fielding both men’s and women’s teams. 

The men’s national wheelchair basketball team has been drawn into Group H alongside Angola and DR Congo. 

The team includes prominent players such as Mohammed Jouradi, Abdelilah Kani, and Mokhtar Laghzioui. 

On the women’s side, the team includes athletes like Ilham Sabraoui and Doua Okhentji, and will compete in Group B, facing off against Nigeria, South Africa, and host nation Ghana.

Morocco will be represented in wheelchair tennis by Said Himam, El Haj Boukartacha, Samira Benyechi, and Najwa Aouane.

The Moroccan amputee football team, made up of players like Afra Alami and Mohamed Reda Boulben, finds itself in Group B alongside Liberia, Uganda, and Togo.The African Paralympic Games aim to celebrate exceptional athletic talent and serve as a testament to the unwavering spirit and dedication of differently-abled athletes.
